The band from Aschaffenburg, Germany was formed in August 1966 by Ilona Kettenbeil, Frank Eberhardt und Bernd Heyder as The People. Angela Find replaced Ilona Kettenbeil in autumn 1967. Their first record with traditionals and german poetic folk was released in February 1969. The original band split in June 1969. In 1976 the band was re-formed, now as just People by Bernd Heyder, Karl-Walter Neumann, Peter Dill und Friedemann Schlett. They performed live very often and released on Ohrwurm-Records. Bassplayer Ralf Bukowski und drummer Siggi Grimm become regular members. In 1983 they changed labels and released on CBS. In 1984 the band disolved. There were several revival concerts: In 1990 they performed at Rock-Fasching in Aschaffenburg-Schweinheim and in 1993 at Aschaffenburger Stadttheater.
