Dance and Electronic
A.k.a. Eric Cook
Based out of the Detroit area, Persona is the solo project of Michigan native Eric Cook, previously known for his work as the drummer for improv-space-noise-rock group Gravitar, and garage-blues-punk duo Bantam Rooster. Though working with electronic, computer and tape music experiments since 1991, it was in late 1997 that Eric switched the focus of his efforts towards Persona, creating a cross-genre collision of interlocking rhythms and approaches, combining sonic experimentation with the suggestion of song forms that remain teasingly out of grasp. Neither dance-floor fodder nor hermetic meditations, the music of Persona is a moving target in the often restrictive maze of electronic music’s subgenres.
