Taken as the lead single to his forthcoming album ‘Beauceron’, The 88 has become the latest song from the genius of Pete Greenwood to gain cult status among his contemporaries. In a change from the legendary finger-style that brought Pete such high critical acclaim in the second half of the 00s, this later recording sets his sweet, chain-smoked vocal against an echoing backdrop of crackled guitars and thick bass. Such a fantastically dark edge to side A can be a credited to producer Stephen Cracknell (The Memory Band).
