b. Apr. 4, 1904, Amsterdam, Netherlands d. Jan. 3, 1990, New Canaan, CN Songwriter and band leader, best-known for "Home (When Shadows Fall)". In 1935, van Steeden replaced Lennie Hayton as the orchestra leader for Fred Allen's radio show Town Hall Tonight.
