Musician
American guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and writer of movie soundtracks, born February 4th, 1951 in Marysville near Sacramento, California. As well-interested boy he made his first musical publications, began to study to become professional musician. While doing his studies in Santa Barbara, he used to play a long time for the local band "The Hot Bentleys". In this period he got known to influential musicians, especially of Davy Jones of The Monkees and got hooked by Phil Volk, with who he played in his early-70's band "Friendship Train". Having studied jazz guitar, Andrews learned also to play mandolin, banjo, bouzouki, and piano. In the 1990's, his career as writer of soundtracks and performer on soundtracks, many of them together with Charles Bernstein, he did many successful works. He was writing and/or performing amongst others episodes for J.A.G., NCIS, the movies Independence Day, Nightmare on Elm Stret, The Entity, Long Hot Summer, Somebody's daughter or My Name is Kate (for Disney). In 1994-96 he was mentor for Nancy Boy, a band by Donovan Leitch and Jason Nesmith, sons of Donovan and member of The Monkees, Michael Nesmith. Obviously, this was possible due to the friendship of Andrews with the Monkees. Due to the difference in ages, Andrews was credited sometimes as 'Uncle Petey'.
