Peter Ericson, music profile in Uppsala, passed away 2016, 61 years old. Peter Ericson was known for many Uppsala residents through his dedicated work with music and records. He ran the record store Musikörat until the shop closed down in 2008, after which he opened the small record store Örat on Kungsgatan. He gave P3 music editor Germund Stenhag the opportunity to start working at Musikörat when Germund was 16 years old, in the mid-1980s. Musikörat, first at Sysslomansgatan and later Drottninggatan, became something of a nursery and many of those who worked there over the years later went on to leadership positions in the music industry. - Musikörat was the soul of Uppsala's musical life, and Peter was the soul of the store. He inspired both customers and us who worked there to be curious, says Nicke Rune, today on Virgin Records Sweden. In more than 35 years Peter Ericson gave advice and tips on the right music for the right customer. - There are not many who have the momentum. Peter had a unique ability to find new music and share it with others. He had intuition when customers entered the store, and in nine cases out of ten they went out with that plate, said Nicke Rune. UNT Kultur music editor Björn G Stenberg recalls discussions about music that could sometimes become hot. - They came to mean much over the years. Peter had total control over the time and did not hesitate to let one know if there had been "wrong" opinion in any review, he says. Jacob Ekendahl, who also worked at Musikörat and today at Warner Music Sweden, says that there are few who shaped Uppsala's music scene for more than Peter Ericson done. - He influenced everyone, in different musical directions, and got everyone working there to open the eyes of exciting things. We started at Musikörat and then continued to work with music, we had never done if we had not been around and worked there, he says. Peter Ericson was in the early 70's drummer in the punk band Rävjunk, formed in 1971. The band released only one album, Uppsala Stadshotell Burns in 1977, but has been somewhat of a cult status.
