Recording director of steam engine field recordings, from c. 1940s-1970s. Together with Kevin Daly, in 1969 he recorded and co-produced The Knotty, a musical documentary about the great days of the railways. He was the creator of the Transacord label (later Argo Transacord distributed through Argo).
