Peter Hook's new band The Light's début is comprised of re-recordings of Joy Division tracks featuring ex-Happy Monday backing vocalist Rowetta Idah on three tracks. Also included is The Light's "finished" version of an old Joy Division demo "Pictures In My Mind" available for the first time in an official capacity. The EP was originally scheduled for digital release on Monday 9th May 2011 by Haçienda Records but delayed until the 16th due to an unspecified "legal issue". On the 12th of May the Haçienda Records web site announced that the issue had been resolved and the EP was due for release the following Monday. The Haçienda Records web site offers 320kbps MP3 or PCM WAV formats of the EP; purchasable either as individual songs or as a full 4 track release. Full artwork - both outer and inner sleeves - are included in the compressed ZIP archive as JPG files once purchased. The EP is dedicated to the memory of Ronan (Rex) Sargeant and includes a tribute on the inner sleeve written by Peter Hook. The remainder of the sleeve contains recording credits and various thanks from each member of The Light to friends and family. Recorded at Blueprint Studios, Salford. Mastered at Radium Recording Studio, Manchester.
