Album NZ 2016 on Wrong Revolution label
Electronic, Rock and Blues (Electro, Experimental)
Here we go with the next quartet for the Colluded Works Series. <> UPSETTING THE TONE <> First track - BIG HEALTHY CONFLICT with David Harrow - Our SUFFERHEAD project was pretty brief and the EP on Ink Records the only release (Re-released on David’s Succession CD by Klanggalerie). We did do a couple of other tracks and this is one of them, exhumed from the cassette vault and carefully tweaked and cajoled to life by Master Toby Borrow. It kicks like a mule and is a great reminder of that mid 80’s electro-industrial surge. Second up - AVERAGE JESUS with Jono Podmore - The DRY HIP ROTATION album that i did with Jono is always in my personal top 5 of things i’ve done, at various times we’ve crossed swords again though never got as far as getting anything released. KUMO has been the vehicle for Jono’s solo work for a number of years (also in collaboration with Irmin Schmidt of CAN) and this track is part of the HORROR SHOW album, due to surface at some point in 2017. An Ecstasy Culture fairy tale! The Third Homme - SHARP with Henri Sizaret - AkA is Henri’s musical I.D. and i’ve been keeping in touch with his work for quite a few years and always appreciated the attitude and vitality of it. After the release of Splitting The Idiom, the first Colluded Works EP, Henri made a creative comment that inspired me to see if we could hit pay dirt. The track he sent me was bang on the money and we’ve had great fun pushing and pulling back and forth to make it click. Minimal and cool and retaining a subtle shadow of the electronics that got us all here. Fourth and final - CHAINS with Mark Estdale - Mark moved from live sound to the studio, working with In The Nursery, The Box, Hula and all manner of Sheffield bands throughout the 1980’s. As far as i can remember this is from ’86 and was released through Doncaster label Native records. We recorded it in what become the Jive Bunny studio somewhere on the fringes of Rotherham. CHAIN was all about linking people together (Chakk/Hula/Junk/The Extras) and this track is a bonafide sum of its parts; great musicians producing a prime slice of Sheffield funk. Released on Bandcamp.
