Compil. UK 2004 on EMI Gold label
Spoken Word and Pop (Interview, Dialogue, Parody)
Excerpt from sleeve notes: "In 1959, Peter Sellers released two albums: The Best of Peter Sellers and Songs for Swinging Sellers. To many people's surprise, these were huge hits, even reaching UK's top 3. This compilation includes many of the funniest tracks from them, including his hilarious senior citizen styles version of "All the things you are" and "My old Dutch". It also includes the travelogue to end all travelogue's "Balham - Gateway to the South" as well as "The whispering Giant" (which features much loved British character actress Irene Handl) and Sellers' unique interpretation of My Fair Lady's showstopper "Wouldn't it be lovely". The latter track was the first time that his long time producer George Martin had used Indian instruments in the studio, even before using sitar successfully with The Beatles. In 1960, Peter Sellers decided it would be a good idea to record with Sophia Loren, his co-star in the film " Millionairess". Their album spent four months in the top 20 and spawned the two hits featured on this compilation. On "Goodness gracious me", Sellers uses the voice of the Indian doctor he played in the film. The song was recently used in a TV advert for Walker's Sensations crisps. His last hit single, "A hard day's night", combined Shakespeare with The Beatles and was again produced by George Martin, who had also produced the original version." Track 15, listed below as "Peter Sellers Sings Rudolph Friml", is actually Peter Sellers' version of "Only A Rose".
