Album US 1960 on Dictation Disc Company label
Spoken Word (Education, Spoken Word, Dialogue)
Largest Publishers of Educational Phonograph Records “The album was narrated by Peter Thomas, who is very famous in the voiceover world, having used his speaking talents for Nova, Forensic Files and countless other TV shows, commercials (including Burger King’s 'Whopper Virgins,' god help him) and films. He began his announcing career for radio programs in 1938 at the age of 14. The inner jacket copy, entitled “The Dictation Disc Story,” tells the tale of how John Visaggi came to found the company. An excerpt : 'This might surprise you but Dictation Disc started making records fourteen years ago. I left the United States Army in 1945 and was all set to go to college under the G.I. Bill. Here is a golden opportunity to get a taste of campus life along with a government subsidy of $75 a month, and I looked forward to this with relish. I was perfectly willing to study anything. Here was a chance to go to college and not even work for it. College started in January–this was November. I had two months with nothing to do. I applied for a job as a stenographer for those two months–shorthand speed, 150. I was told there was an opening for a court reporter, and with the speed of 150, perhaps I might try that job. I did–and that was the end of my college career. I was making too much money.'” -- Darren D’Addario, Afflictor.com
