Petri Hiidenkari (September 25, 1957) was strongly influenced by rock music and by the age of 19 he had played electric guitar in several rock and jazz bands. Hiidenkari studied composition under Paavo Heininen at the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki, Finland) from 1981 to 1988.
