"husk_rust: the adapted recordings of Marcel Gumms, vol. 1" is the first in a collection of works by sound artist Phil Maguire, using source material by field recordist and amateur folklorist Marcel Gumms. Gumms’ recordings are made at locations featured in various folklore, and placed online, with explicit invitations for anyone who finds them to rework them how they wish; a contemporary comment on the ‘whisper game’ nature of folk storytelling. "husk_rust" re-tells a selection of folk tales by way of two drone works, composed from recordings made by Gumms in Scotland, between 1999 and 2004.
