American science fiction writer. Born December 16, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois; died March 2, 1982. Won the Hugo Award for best Science Fiction novel of 1963 with The Man In The High Castle. An annual award. The Philip K Dick Award, was named in his honor. Many motion pictures, including Blade Runner and Minority Report. bave been based on his stories and novels.
