A.k.a. Philippe Villa

French classic guitarist, born on 25 December 1965. Plays mainly XIX-XX centuries music. Philippe Villa studied with Betho Davezac at the Conservatory of Meudon. He obtained the Gold Medal of the City of Paris before enrolling at the Musikhochschule of Sarrebruck, where he earned a Konzert-Diplom summa cum laude. Winner of international competitions such as Pujol, Milan, Taranto, Paganini, he also studied in Prague with Jiří Jirmal and in Spain with José Tomás (2). Philippe Villa gives concerts in lots of countries such as Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Russia, Switzerland, Czech Republic and the United States. Gold medallist at the Bordeaux International Festival of Young Soloists in 1991, he was the unanimous winner of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation in 1992. He attends many festivals and creates in 1998 the "International Guitar Festival of Re Island" that takes place ever since, the first week of July. Certificated teacher, he is Professor at the National School of Music in Niort, he also is member of jury in different international contests. Currently he is Invited Teacher of Mahidol College of Music. He indulges his passion for chamber music by frequently associating his instrument with violin, flute, voice and string quartet. Besides, he creates with the pianist Carole Carniel an original duet guitar-piano
