Musician of Classical, Folk and World
His first instrument was the classical guitar that he first taught himself, then alongside Juan Cedrón. He was introduced to bass and other stringed instruments (cavaquinho, rajão, fretless guitar ...) before revealing the Portuguese guitar. In Lisbon, he became a student of guitarist Carlos Gonçalves, who was for many years the companion of a famous singer Amalia Rodrigues. During his studies in musicology at the University Paris 8, he gets into the middle of the traditional fado in Paris. Which gives him the opportunity to accompany the "Fado singers" that occur in France. Philippe de Sousa is now a professor at the Academy of Fado where he teaches Portuguese guitar.
