French Catholic right-wing politician, poet and journalist who directed propaganda broadcasts for the pro-Nazi Vichy government during the German occupation, first as the Secretary of State for Information, then as the Minister of Information and Propaganda. He was widely known as "the French Goebbels". He was born on 7 January 1889 in Reims, France and assassinated by militants of the Resistance on 28 June 1944 in Paris, France.
