Phobia was a Thrash Metal band from Auckland, New Zealand, 1988-1992. Phobia began in the late 80's and originally had Chris Van de Geer on guitar and Blair on vocals with Simon Ferguson on drums. The line up morphed around 1989 into Jarad Bryant vocals, Josh Foley guitar, Mike Lawrence guitar, Paul Balmer (ex-Second Child) bass and Simon Ferguson drums. Lyrics: Jarad, Mike, Josh. Songwriting: Mike, Josh and band. Vocally the bands message had a socio-political leaning with songs such as their anthem 'Not For Us'. Their first eagerly anticipated show with the new line ups was aptly staged at the packed out Trade Union Center on Great North Rd, Auckland in 1990. The band gigged extensively around Auckland city from 1990-1991. Touring to Rotorua and New Plymouth in 91 with fellow thrash metal band and often gig mates, Ultimate. The band was featured on a TV3 stage diving special with exerts from a show at the Auckland venue The Powerstation. Discography: Self titled, self released two track tape 1991 on G.U.S.M.
