Jack Resweber is an American electronic musician based in New Orleans, La, also known for his audio software company Psychic Modulation which creates software synthesizers and effects. The idea of Phonogeist emerged from early tape recording experiments of his childhood, loosely based on the emotions surrounding these recordings, and the memories of the time period in the early 80s. Heavily influenced by 80s minimal synth music and VHS horror from the same time period, his music is a combination of driving rhythms, intricate synth work and haunting, faded melodies. His first album, Distance Collapsing, was self released digitally in 2011, and was quickly discovered by London label 'The Bohemian Club', who later released a selection of previous and recent works that were compiled in a 4-track EP 'Channel Transference' in early 2013. In 2016, Postmodern Sunsets was released on cassette and digital on his own tape label Parallels.
