born 1916 in London, died 17 June 2004 in Suresness near Paris. Leader of The Sufi Order in the West. Education in Oxford, studied Psychology at the Sorbonne and composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Cello player. Son of the Sufi poet and founder of the Order Hazrat Inayat Khan and father of Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, his successor as leader of the Order.
