Artist Portrait

Plantains

Band,
Electronic and Pop

Plaintains were the multimedia performance duo of Nick Hallett (aka Nicklcat) and Ray Sweeten (aka Mitgang Bevilacqua). They began as a faux British act sporting fake European accents. In 2001, Plantains relocated to New York City, playing shows with Le Tigre, Scissor Sisters and more. After cutting a demo album in 2004, the band amicably split, in order to pursue solo projects (Sweeten's spinoff, The Mitgang Audio, saw a notable release through Suction Records). In 2010, they released the "Career Retrospective" compilation, featuring selected favorites chronicling their rare catalogue.
