Band, *1993 LT
Rock
Poccolus was the first pagan black metal band in Lithuania. It was formed in Utena, Lithuania, in spring/summer of 1993 when thrash/black metal band Nemesis had split-up. Poccolus used to play black metal with pagan subjects, Lithuanian mythology and history. The band name - Poccolus - is derived from a name of an ancient Lithuanian-Prussian pagan mythological god of death, darkness and the underworld, Pikolas. The band's main person, Ramūnas Peršonis, used to play in Abnormity before Poccolus and after that participated in Zpoan Vtenz, Ha Lela, Nahash and Sovijus (his ambient music one-man side project). After release of their only album in 1996, the band split up. The music is reminiscent of mainly Burzum, but with acoustic guitars, kanklės and pagan feeling.
