Poisonflow

A.k.a. Gary J Robinson , Jonathon Vaughan , Dries Samyn, Geof Willis, Richard Godbehere, Owen Rossiter

Poisonflow began in 2001 when producer Gary Robinson and songwriter Vaughan collaborated with Drum n’ Bass outfit Rareform, to much critical acclaim. Gary had successfully been running his own Drum n’ Bass label New Vision Recordings and had worked with some of the most respected names in the scene including Goldie, Total Science and Source Direct. Vaughan had been prominent in various bands and sound systems within the Bristol scene. To combat the formulaic nature of the dance scene and the retrospective indie scene, Gary and Vaughan decided to start Poisonflow, to experiment and explore all their diverse musical and cinematic influences. And, after remix work for Nas, Sugababes, BadFellas and Soundisciples it was time to start work on their own album, which would encapsulate this original fusion. Gary and Vaughan then recruited Mr. Dries from Belgium on Bass, Ditch on guitar who had previously been playing with Noel Redding from The Jimi Hendrix Experience, MC Willis and Owen If from the Stereo MCs on drums. Poisonflow were quickly picked up by Kickin Music, whos diverse range of labels and artists include Kickin Records (Bushwacka!, DJ Hype), house label Slip ‘n’ Slide (De’Lacy, Deep Dish, BT) and Drum n’ Bass label Hardleaders (Kosheen, Dillinja, Lemon D). Poisonflow are currently in the studio with Australian producer Malcolm Ford putting the finishing touches to their debut LP ‘Urban Sickness’. A musical rollercoaster of styles from Breakbeat to Punk, Hip-Hop to Metal, it includes collaborations with U.S. Gangsta rapper Mountain Man, Bristol Metal act Soundisciples and Bruce Lee! In conjunction with the recording of the LP, Poisonflow have also developed into a blistering 6-piece live act combining the raw power of punk and metal, with the hard beats of Drum n’ Bass and Hip-Hop, to create a completely new and fresh live experience. Successful gigs across Europe and all over the UK, especially at London’s Cargo, have seen Poisonflow establish themselves as one of the hottest live acts around.
