Alternative and Rock
Erland Dahlblom, Pär Wahlqvist, Johan Nygren and Mikael Borg are Pond Life. Pond Life from Gävle was founded in 1994, 22 years later, they release their album debut: "Bruit". The members have links to local acts such as Lars Langs, The Vertex, Slam, Kadesch Kadeng and Jenny C. In 2016, the group consists of Mikael Borg, song and guitar, Pär Wahlqvist, bass, Johan Nygren, guitar and keyboard and newly arrived Erland Dahlblom on drums. Several other instruments are also included in the sound image, such as lapsteel and bent circuits (for example, connecting a toy). Everyone is from Gävle except Mikael Borg, raised in Ockelbo. In his youth he participated in the punk group Lars Langs, featured in the Vi Lever collection and also resurrected at the Punk and Bössa festival last year. Later he formed The Vertex with Lars Langs himself (who also participates in Pond Life's album "Bruit"), when both had left Lars Langs (ironically Lars was the first to jump off the band Lars Langs). These records are sold for thousands of kronor today. Three of Pond Lifes members work in everyday life in the steel industry in different ways: Borg, Pär Wahlqvist and Johan Nygren. Pär Wahlqvist has a history in Sweden's first skatepunk band: Slam from Gävle . Last year, their discography was released on a Russian record label. He is the only one in Pond Life who is a member of other active bands: Bluesland and Jenny C. Erland Dahlblom has previously played with the party band Kadesch Kadeng and Jacob Gordin's Gordin International All Stars. He replaced the drummer Jerker Persson whose time was not enough for Pond Life. On the record, Jan Ola Asplund, also known from Gävle band Twang which had the hit "Här för dig" with Monica Törnell in 1992. He is now current with the band Bombasol who released the album in August 2016. The CD's "Bruit" was pressed in 500 copies. Mikael Borg, a qualified graphic engineer, has designed the sleeve. Jenny Christoffersson is a visiting artist on some tracks. The album started to be recorded already about six years ago in the studio at Musikhuset Sjömanskyrkan. Then with Jonas Hamqvist as producer. William Blackmon from Gadget has since produced the bulk of the album. Even though the band has existed since 1994, they have so far only released a burned CD-R in 2005. The members have children, families and jobs, and that it has been difficult to get a studio time with William Blackmon, who has worked with several other projects. Pond Life has also released two singles before the album "Bruit" with b-sides that do not exist on album. They wanted to press the album on vinyl, but it was going to be too expensive. The catalog number on the disc: C121761 is explained with a cd is twelve centimeters in diameter, spins 176 laps per second and is the first official Pond Life release.
