Drinking Poison, Handling Serpents, Speaking In Tongues: POPDeFECT Live In Big Bear

Album US 1995 on Flipside Records label
Alternative (Alternative Rock, Garage Rock, Punk, Surf)

Recorded live March 4th, 1995 at the Blowhole Lounge on the Strip at Big Bear. Nick Scott played a Kima child's drumset, Charlie Hutchinson blew up at Hartke Systems bass amp with his Washburn, and Alan Anderson played a Gretsch through a tiny tweed Fender Deluxe* Mixed at Cat Hork Studios "where we work 'til we hork on the cat." * "Al hates Fenders" Greg Two lips 1995 Mistakes included! Front cover says "Live In Big Bear" but on the spine it reads "Live At Big Bear". Given that the companion film to this CD is also called "Live In Big Bear", the spine is likely an error. Track 11 is slightly mistitled, it should be "I Can't Escape Myself". Track 13 is amusingly misattributed to Harris/Wynne instead of Lee Hazlewood. One can only surmise that somehow the writing credits for Kon Kan's "Puss In Boots/These Boots Are Made For Walking" got fouled up with the original "These Boots Are Made For Walking" when Popdefect went looking for the writing credits to put on this release! Strange. Track 17 is unlisted on the sleeve. Part 1 is a short excerpt of dialogue from the film "Live At Big Bear", part 2 is one minute of silence, and part 3 is an untitled surf-rock instrumental.
