American jazz pianist, bandleader and songwriter. Born : October 22, 1891 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Died : 1954 (or) 1955 (not confirmed). Porter Grainger (Alias Harold Gray (3)) worked with Bob Ricketts (pianist) and the blues singers Viola McCoy, Clara Smith, Victoria Spivey, Mamie Smith, and Bessie Smith . His orchestra, the "Get Happy Band" is known for having made eight recordings. In the 40s his traces are lost.
