Hip-Hop/Rap
Pound Sterling is the epitome of a London hustler, known for his flamboyant nature and lavish spending. Hailing from Lewisham this undeniable talent, takes scenarios from his gritty reality and turns them into razor sharp lyrics. 2003 was a standout year for Pound Sterling when he realised that he had to take his musical ambitions more seriously. After releasing his first mix tape, ‘Beat Robbery Vol 1’, he decided to start up his own record label, Flawless Records with his long time friends Bones Mack and Big Lex. This independent route allows the artists to stay creative with their material and push out there product, without having to battle over the musical politics. At present Flawless Records have 12 people on the camp who all contribute into pushing their music. I Pound Sterling describes his music as raw and un-cut, simply because he keeps it real and says whatever is on his mind, “I talk about my life, it’s almost therapeutic getting things off my chest. I talk about reality and what I see sums up the concept of the tracks. It’s my perspective, my life. My diary.” Influenced by the likes of 2 Pac, Nas and Jay-Z, they have inspired Pound Sterling to find a sound of his own and to generate that to listeners.
