Promotional giveaway (limited copies) from NYC clothing store/line Triple Five Soul. This is the first in the "T5 Soul Sessions" series. Unfortunately, at Herren's personal request, he will not release any information regarding the artists or track information from this compilation. The collection contains random Latin American tracks of different styles with a few original tracks by Prefuse 73 included in the mix. No catalogue number available on disc or packaging. Liner notes (from the English translation printed below the original Catalan on the inside cover): ---- This mix is a small sample of what I go home and listen to. More than a traditional "mixtape", I preferred to let the introspective side in and share the sounds that I play when I’m cooking dinner, just thinking, or not sitting behind an MPC and various instruments for 12 hours! Scott Herren refers to his work on Volume 1 as "a small sample of what I go home and listen to. More than a traditional mixtape, I preferred to let the introspective side in and share the sounds that I play when I’m cooking dinner, just thinking, or not sitting behind an MPC and various instruments for 12 hours! The underlying theme is love and anti-war, or at least certain things missing as well as the contemplation of the things you love. Far beyond the state of digging for records, this reflects the music that lies in between the grooves of the vinyl. I hope you all can listen repeatedly at different hours of the day and meditate on the peace we so much need in this world! Love to: Elvin Estela, Carlos Niño, Ana Cristina Altino Garcia, Triple Five, Tom Sarig, and You. Compiled by: Guillermo Scott Herren a.k.a. Prefuse 73 (among other things). Peace!!! ---- Notes from back of album: ---- T5 Soul Sessions gives the deejays and producers that we respect the chance to break out of public perceptions and give the world a taste of their inner musical selves. In our premier edition, Prefuse 73 digs deep into his own pysche to bring you a mix of original rarities from the Latino diaspora, as well as some unreleased dubplates of his own.
