Prestestranna Vel Vel Vel is a Norwegian folk / show group from Drangedal consisting of among others Tom Jackie Haugen (who later founded the duo Drangedal Bortforklaring). The group was inspired by Irish folk music made in addition to Haugen's own tunes, Norwegian versions of familiar Irish songs. The texts contained subtle humor with high recognition factor. Prestestranna Vel Vel Vel were most active from 1990 to 1996 and released three CDs, a 'Radio Special' album came in 1999 and a TV program on NRK in 1993. In 2008, the album 'Prestestranna Ja, Vel Vel Vel' were released and featured in addition to previously released songs, live recordings, and new recordings with Seán Cannon from The Dubliners among others. In connection the release, Haugen and Cannon were on tour in the Telemark region.
