A.k.a. William Franklin
AKA Pretty Bopp and William "Pretty Bopp" Franklin. Comedian and later ventriloquist from St. Louis but mainly performed in Chicago. He was born on Oct.12, 1931. He started out as a comic and was with the Larry Steele “Smart Affairs Show” and arrived in Chicago with them. Black promoter Pervis Spann discovered Bopp and put him to work in all the top black clubs in Chicago. He became the house emcee at the Club Checkmate. The dummy in his 1970's act was June Bug. Franklin died in 1984.
