Band, GB
Alternative and Rock
Problem Hair consisted of the following: Joss Hutton (songwriter; guitarist; singer on two songs) John Grover (guitarist) Dave Kraft (lead singer and bassist) Dennis LeCocq ('Denni') (drums and shouting in a French accent) Originally, Tony Bailey (The Faith Healers) played bass: he played a few gigs, but then Barry Stillwell III, who was playing with Jesse Hector at the time, stepped into the band. After a short period, Dave Kraft took over as bass player and he played on the album. Joss and John originally set up the band with a house mate of Josh and Barbara's at Vincent Terrace. Denni was a simple but effective drummer. He used to shout a great deal in rehearsals and this made everyone laugh. Joss ('Blakie') wrote most of the songs on the album, and he played a 12-stringed Rickenbacker guitar. He was influenced by The Byrds, MC5, The Kinks and the Dovers amongst many others. He also set up the Purple Turtle and played some of his huge record collection to night clubbers in the 1990s. Today, he still DJs regularly. John Grover was an electric guitar player who would grin on stage. He worked with Josh Collins and Barbara Hanf ('Babzotica') at Toerag Studios with Liam Watson. They put on a number of Fratshacks in London which were great parties--only if you have been there will you understand! Dave Kraft was crazy on stage and he used to frighten the audience by screaming at them and joining them on the dance floor. Problem Hair's first and only album, 'Slightly Floored', came out in 1994 on the Teenage Kicks label.
