Musician of Rock and Pop
Projektor was formed in 1999 by Jahmeel Russell and Chris Harder. They were joined by guitarist Dustin Leader and drummer Darren Achorn. A split 7" with The Paperbacks was released in 2000 and a tour of eastern Canada followed before the band signed with Winnipeg's Endearing Records. Their debut album Red Wolf Glass was released May 1st, 2001. The band toured western Canada shortly after the release. Dustin Leader left the band after this tour and was replaced by guitarist/keyboardist Jeremy Gillespie. The band then made some selected Canadian festival appearances and toured western Canada again with Eric's Trip and Moneen. Chris Harder left and the remaining members recorded a song for the compilation "Somebody Needs a Timeout" along with some demos for the next album. Guitarist Sean Stevens was recruited and the band continued working on material for their next record. Young Hearts Fail was released September 7th, 2004 through Endearing Records and distributed by Universal in Canada. During the touring that followed for the record Sean Stevens was replaced by Mico/Red Fisher guitarist Johnny Stewart. Projektor played its final show October 22nd, 2005 and disbanded early 2006. The EP Atlantic Tired South was released October 9th, 2007.
