Rock
Japanese rock band known for their cosplay costumes inspired by anime and video game characters. Psycho le Cému formed in early 1999 and released their first single “Kronos” independently in March 2000. After playing a sold-out gig at Tokyo's famed visual-kei venue Rock May Kan the band were signed by manager Sweet Heart and indie label Limited Records (5) with whom they released their debut album. In 2003 they made the move to mainstream and signed to major label Crown (3) who promoted them in the US market through appearances at anime conventions throughout 2004 and 2005. On May 31, 2005 lead singer Daishi Kajinaga was stopped by police in Kanagawa and tested positive for methamphetamine. He was sentenced to probation and a suspended sentence but the scandal was such that all of the band's merchandise was removed from shelves in Japan. His solo tour was cancelled, and his solo EP was removed from shelves. On June 5, 2005 the band announced they were "on hiatus" but re-formed briefly in 2006 to promote an album of new material titled "Epilogue".
