Psykkle [pronounced "Cycle"] is a Dark-Electro project formed by Evan Collingwood, based out of Edmonton, AB, Canada. Mixing elements of EBM, Trance, Powernoize, and even Trip-Hop influence, creating a truly unique and original style to come out of the Edmonton electronic music scene. Evan started experimenting with electronic music when he was only 14 under the project Ac1d1c Dr3am3r. He then worked on other projects including Vexation[Node] and Anthrax Circuit before creating Psykkle. By the age of 21, Evan had released a large number of tracks, in various electronic styles. November of 2008 saw the release of the first official Psykkle demo entitled "The Parthian Shot" and showcased the many sounds of Psykkle. The demo included 5 original tracks, as well as collaborations and remixes from some local and underground artists. The demo was limited to 77 digital copies, and an unkown number of CD-Rs. In 2009 "The Parthian Shot v2" was released and featured 3 new remixes by Chaos Theory, Nolongeruman, and Left Spine Down, as well as a collaboration with Virtual Terrorist. Psykkle made its live debut in June of 2009, opening for Ayria in Edmonton, and Calgary, AB. In December of 2009, Evan helped contributed and helped organize the "Christmas Carnage: An Industrial XXXmas Album" which featured industrial acts local to the Edmonton area and helped raise funds for the Stollery Children's Hospital. The compilation was released in a very limited handmade release at a live show and raised over $700. In 2011, the first full length album titled "Rock Bottom Paradise" was released independently and showcased Psykkle's newest member, Sabine, who contributed both lyrically and vocally. In June of 2012, while working on the follow up to Rock Bottom Paradise, Sabine had announced her departure from the band due to creative differences. After Sabine's departure, Evan hired Gerry Hawkins of Cryogenic Echelon to contribute lyrically to the newest Psykkle album and released "Mother Monoxide" in June of 2013 through CRL Studios. Mother Monoxide focussed heavily on cyberpunk subject matter and aesthetic and took the project into new territory featured a DnB influence with synthesized vocals layer with heavy distorted vocals. In the coming years after the release of Mother Monoxide, Psykkle played a number of shows in the Calgary and Edmonton areas, before going on indefinite hiatus. As of now there are no plans for a third album to be released.
