Electronic and Hip-Hop/Rap
Punk Bunny specializes in a palpably vital electronic music that's both forward thinking and an audacious homage to their electro-conscious forbearers (Kraftwerk, Madonna) and peers (Peaches, Fischerspooner, AIR). Their blend of brashly sexual lyrics over progressive, syncopated beats appeals to the electro clash generation while adding their own entirely distinctive flavor to equally entice the more adventurous listener. Anchored by the sibling duo of Keyboardis/back-up vocalist, (Luigi) Gil Sandoval and lead chanteuse (Back Alley Sally) Sally Sandoval, Punk Bunny augments their outrageous live performances with back-up dancers, and naughty videos. The sexual nature o their lyrics combines with the provocative onstage interaction between the band members brings a whole new level of unspoken sexuality into play. The Sandoval siblings began their musical collaboration in the early 1990's with Marble, a bare-boned, urgent, classic punk band. Marble's hard rockin' highly charged concerts at The Roxy, The Whisky and The Troubadour earned the group legions of fans. Marble shared the stage with such giants as Debbie Harry, Rage Against the Machine, Throwing Muses, and Ozomatli. By early 2002 the band felt that they had gone as far as they could musically and called it quits. Punk Bunny was born when Gil (Luigi) and Sally's sonic aspirations evolved into a more complex electronic sound. The group's music is a master mix of the past and the future. The cool electronic sounds of Kraftwerk coupled with lyrics containing the sexual frankness of Prince are two of the key elements found in the band's music. Dirty guitars, dance club beats and disco handclaps are thrown into the music stew and the results are down right delicious. In live shows that have become wild dance orgies, Sally's delivery of the lyrics to the funky song "Pink Sock" have been known to send the boys (and some of the girls!) into a frenzy. Gil holds his own with his guitar playing and bikini brief clad booty shaking to the techno beat of "Border Blues", Punk Bunny has hit on a winning combination that has had them playing to enthusiastic crowds throughout Los Angeles. Punk Bunny augments their wild perfomances with back up dancers, hookers, and naughty home videos!
