LABELS: - Black/silver 'grooved wideband' labels - "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" at 11 o'clock - "Made in England" at bottom - "ffss" logo in a circle - "FULL FREQUENCY STEREOPHONIC SOUND" in wide silver band - "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1958" - Decca 'Musical Notes' logo on both sides - Matrix numbers printed upside-down SLEEVE: - Fully laminated - 'Halfmoon' flipbacks (aka scalloped) - Blue border on back - Triangular "DECCA STEREOPHONIC" logo on front and back - Thin spine with no text on it - Printing date on sleeve is August 1958 ("58/8") - "Printed in England" on back of sleeve - "Cover photo from the Pontel-Delaurentiis production - War and Peace" CATALOG NUMBERS: - SXL 2001 on sleeve - SXL.2001 on labels OTHER INFORMATION: - Recorded 2 & 8 May 1958 in Kingsway Hall, London - The 1812 Overture features real cannon shots, which were probably recorded elsewhere - Labelography code: ED1 - This was the first issue in Decca's SXL series - No corresponding mono issue in the UK, but issued in mono on the London label for the US market Advertised as a new release in "Decca Stereo LPs for Issue 27th August", Gramophone magazine, September 1958.
