Pyramid Peak

Band, DE
Electronic
A.k.a. Digital Dream (4)

Pyramid Peak is a German band that composes electronic music. Their music style resembles the classical Berlin school, so is partially comparable with performers such as Tangerine Dream. The band was founded in 1988 by the two Leverkuseners Axel Stupplich and Andreas Morsch, after they had met a common friend. Before, both were in contact with electronic music mainly as listeners. Axel Stupplich was particularly inspired by the music of Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, software and Jean Michel Jarre, Andreas Morsch also by Klaus Schulze works as well as Kraftwerk. 1988 both decided to make their own music and started with a first modest equipment the project Digital Dream, which was only years later renamed the Pyramid Peak. Prior to 1998 the music of Pyramid Peak was only released on MCs. From 1992 to 1997 Andreas Morsch withdrew from the music for a while for health reasons. Only after 1995 Uwe Denzer came to Pyramid Peak and Andreas Morsch returned to the band in 1998, there were other publications, this time on CD. The first 3 CDs were still produced by the Monheimer label Invisible Shadows, but after this had stopped working in 2004 all the following albums were produced and distributed directly by Andreas and Axel. All covers, with the exception of the CD Caveland, were also created in self-government. From 1998 to 2014 Pyramid Peak appeared as a trio, since the departure of Uwe Denzer in January 2015 Axel Stupplich and Andreas Morsch are on the road as a duo. The albums released before 2005 are studio recordings, while the CD The Cave is a live recording of a concert that gave Pyramid Peak in October 2009 in the Dechenhöhle in Iserlohn. Their album "5vor12" was chosen by the jury and listeners as the best electronic music CD of the year 2011. Their release Anatomy from 2013 was released at the Electronic-Circus Festival in Gütersloh and also performed live. Since 2005, the musician Max "maxxess" Schiefele has been a regular guest at the live performances of Pyramid Peak, so also in February 2015 at the concert in the Solinger Güterhallen. At this event the author Wolfgang Brunner was musically translated and accompanied from his philosophical love-romance "The Butterfly Man" by Pyramid Peak and Maxxess. On this evening the new project of Axel Stupplich, Andreas Morsch and Max Schiefele was also born: Pyramaxx. The first joint CD is released in 2015. Since 2002, Axel Stupplich has also been working as a solo artist under the pseudonym Axess in the EM scene and can look back on several CD releases. Max "maxxess" Schiefele also has a joint project Axess & Maxxess with 2 CDs (Contact / 2004 and Impact / 2010). Andreas Morsch has published a CD under his pseudonym "Project Andrew Rotten" (En Passant / 2005).
