In his first incarnation, the name of this band, founded in 1928 By Marcel Mule, was "Quatuor de saxophones de la Garde Républicaine" with the following members : Marcel Mule, René Chaligné, Hyppolite Poinboeuf, Georges Chauvet. In the year 1934, Chaligné and Poinboeuf left and were replaced by Paul Ronby and Fernand Lhomme. In the year 1936, Mule, Ronby and Chauvet left the "Garde Républicaine" and the name of the band changed for Quatuor de saxophones de Paris" with R. Charron replacing Fernand Lhomme.
