Rachel Claudio is Paris-based Australian singer, composer, lyricist, producer & pianist, globally recognized for her work in the world of soulful music, predominantly in house & hip hop. Her first releases were in collaboration with Australian drum'n'bass producer, Greg Packer. Together they released a string of d'n'b anthems, most notably "Wonderful Day", which was signed to NY label Phuturistic Bluez in 2003. Upon moving to Paris in late 2006, Rachel created with DJ/producer Nicolas Vautier the label Jaffa Music (singles released upon which include Gotcha, Be Good, On & On, Surely Certainly,Do You Even Know and Freedom [written, produced, sung, all instruments performed by the artist herself]) In the house world, Rachel has written, recorded and/or collaborated with/for or been remixed by DJ Yass, DJ Fudge, DJ Rork, Mani Hoffman, Martin Solveig, DJ Meme, Hanna Hais, Tracy K, Jamie Thinnes, Dimitri From Paris, Jamie Lewis, Alex Dimitri, and many more. In the world of soul/hip hop, Rachel appears as co-writer, co-arranger and featured artist on Sly Johnson’s first solo album (Universal Music, France) alongside Cindy Blackman (Lenny Kravitz’s drummer) TM Stevens (Miles Davis’ bassist), Neal Evans & Eric Krasno (Soulive), Ayo & Slum Village. Her current projects include a new album of 60s futuristic heartbreaks in collaboration with celebrated New York keyboard player/ producer Neal Evans (Soulive) in a band called The Heartfails; New adventures in electronic soul & hip hop with illustrious LA-based Erik Rico (Tupac, Q-Tip, Jurassic 5) and scintillating audio adventures with the legendary Brian Jackson. (Gil Scott Heron’s mythic co-collaborator) Rachel’s recent collaboration with Union Analogtronics (Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Elzhi of Slum Village) ‘Song for Janasa’ can be found on Tokyo Dawn’s The Heart (Germany) alongside tracks by Georgia Ann Muldrow, Donn T (Questlove’s sister), fLako and Jay Scarlett. Other highly note-worthy collaborations include those with hip hop/electronic giant King Britt (Digable Planets, Grover Washington, Solange) & Steve McKie (Jill Scott, Bilal, Kindred the Family Soul). Between Europe, the US, Asia & Brazil, Rachel has performed with or supported artists including Pras Michel (The Fugees), Common, Raheem Devaughn, Beady Belle, Bilal & Maceo Parker.
