Spanish electric bassist and double bassist, born in Almería in 1954. Also known as Fafi Molina. Rafael Molina started playing music at the age of nine with local guitarist maestro Richoly, with whom he learned to play bandurria, lute and Spanish guitar. He entered the world of pop music by adopting the electric bass as his main instrument and participating in various local groups making cover versions of the famous groups from the Pop scene before starting listening to jazz and flamenco. 1972 and 1973: He studied solfege and theory at the Victoria Eugenia Conservatory in Granada and made his first performances with the Jazz-Samba group. 1974: He leaves for Barcelona as part of the group of keyboardist Enrique Herrera and participates in Jam-Sesions and recordings collaborating with Joan Albert Amargós, Max Suñe, Toti Soler, Gato Pérez, Sisa, Ricky and Jordi Sabatés, etc ... His relationship with bassist Carles Benavent started at this time. 1976: He returns to Granada as a musician of Carlos Cano with whom he made the first recording of the Hymn of Andalucia and the L.P. In light of the Songs. 1978: He settled permanently in Almeria, founding the Chanca group and later the Bulla Blues Band with which he participated in the Jazz festivals of Almeria, Murcia and Alicante. 1985: Organizes the Workshop of Musicians of Almería, along with the guitarist Alberto Bonilla. 1990-1992: Creates the fusion group Sonido Blanco with which he frequently performs at the Peña el Taranto. 1993-1997: Formed the group Groove Jazz Collective: participating in many jam sessions at the Georgia Pub accompanying the American trumpeter Stephen Franckevich and participating in the anniversary party of the Canal Sur program "The Boulevard of Jazz" with Paul Stoker, Chano Domínguez, Guillermo Mcguill, and Unusual Club. Simultaneously he collaborates with the most significant artists and groups of the Almeria music scene: Miguel Saavedra, Alberto Bonilla, José del Olmo, Paco Riva, Pepe Viciana, Agustín Sanchis, Antonio Gómez, Indal Jazz, Pétit Committee, and others. 1997-2000: Director of the jazz group of the Music Classroom of the University of Almería where he organizes an improvisation workshop on standard themes and teaches the theoretical aspects of the language of Jazz. 2000: He participates to the Niño Josele group with which he performs at the Flamenco Festival of the Almería Fair, at the El Ejido Jazz Festival and at the Lope de Vega Theater in Seville for the Flamenco Biennial. 2001-2002: Organizes the UAL Jazz Band with performances at the Jazz Festival of El Ejido, Níjar and at San Juan Evangelista in Madrid. 2003: Start a new project with the theater group La Torna 2004 : Becomes part of the group of singer Chelo García. He founded the group Plaza Vieja with the percussionist Salvador Martos and the guitarist Ruben de Rosario and in 2007 the fusion group Tangai. 2009 He collaborates with flamenco guitarist and flamenco singer "El Niño de Las Cuevas" in his show "Sinfonía Flamenca", participates in Los Escullos Flamenco Festival with Niño Josele and bailaor "Juan de Juanes", leading his own group and finally becomes part of "Pepe Viciana Jazz Trio". 2010s : independent musician. Member of Isabel Hernandez Quintet. 2018 : creation of Cuarteto Majao with Mike Fletcher (alto sax, flute), David Rodríguez (flamenco guitar) and Moisés Santiago (percussion)
