Originally formed in April 1986 by Ivy Markaity. By good fortune she soon found her mainstay lead guitar player Bug Esposito and they spent the summer of 1986 writing, recording, and rehearsing their songs. Their debut performance was on Halloween night of '86 in New York City. From that point on the band progressed and evolved through 1987 with several performances in New York City under the name "Black Sky". In early 1988 the name changed to "Raining Violet" to signal a new chapter in the band's evolution. With creative input from producer Bob Holmes, and the current members of the group, "Raining Violet" has generated its own brand of original rock music.
