Rancor

Band,

Unreleased: "Rancor" - 1996 demo. Recorded at Spider Studios in August of 1996. Never officially titled, but referred to by some members as "With Malice Towards All". The first and only recording with Allen Marcus on 2nd guitar. 1. Ossuary 2. Besieged 3. Emperor's Slave 4. Evil Thoughts 5. The Urge 6. Madness Compilation Appearance: "Evil Thoughts" on GogmaGod Records Compilation Vol. 2 (Cassette, GogmaGod Records, late 1996) Formed in 1995, by then-very young Alex Iwasa and Chris Dargay. Soon recruited Bill Austin and Tony Santora. For all 4 original members this was their very first band. During this time Chris used the alias Glenn Dargay because he was a huge fan of The Misfits and Glenn Danzig. Tony Santora also adopted a stage name, Orson, a nickname that he had previously been given and had stuck after he stated that he thought he looked like the Orson character in the TV show Garfield. Alex adopted the name Alex Rancor, and in 1996 Bill Austin took the name Der Tuefel (German for "The Devil") after seeing it on a tarot card that the band used in the artwork of a flyer for one of their live shows. In 1996 they recruited 2nd guitarist Allen Marcus and soon after they recorded a 6-song 2nd demo. They planned to release the 2nd tape, also their first recording with Allen on 2nd guitar, soon after, but unfortunately split up before it could actually be put out. One song from this demo, "Evil Thoughts", was included on the 1996 "Gogmagod Vol. 2" compilation, but by this time the band was recently split. In the final days of the band they had learned about 2 other bands called Rancor, and had considered changing the bands name to Baptized In Excrement, but ended up splitting before this could happen. Although the "No Time For Religion..." inlay didn't include the lyrics, Alex had created Rancor lyric sheets and they were available to anyone who wrote and asked for one, and the inlay mentioned this above their contact information. Alex Iwasa went on to co-found Netherborn, which Bill Austin later joined in 2000 (recording their own debut album that remains unreleased). Chris Dargay and Bill co-founded the Viking Metal Myth in 2000. However, Myth would disband in early 2002 during the recording of their debut album "Through the Mist of Time", and Bill would then join the new band of Myth drummer Joe Waltz, Black Trinity. Allen Marcus founded Osyris shortly after Rancor disbanded, and would later play with Dark Arena and others. Orson was later in Puppet.
