Ras Noel was born in the city of Saint-Paul, on La Réunion Island, in the Indian Ocean. He began to make music from his childhood, influenced by the reggae movement. He moved to Paris and formed the band "New Roots" with which he made many concerts in France. It was then that he created a personal style inspired by reggae and its Reunionese roots, the Gaya.
