He was born in Iquitos, capital of the department of Loreto, in the jungle region of Peru, on January 4, 1949. He began his artistic career in 1969 at the Trujillo Spring Festival, where he won the first place with his song "La Plañidera" "(known in Argentina through the version of Leonardo Favio), while another composition of his," The Earth, the Earth ", was ranked fourth.
