"Ray Dafoe, Flint's own 'Beloved Gospel Singer,' featured on Chapel Voices, a weekly telecast from WJRT, and twelve years minister of music at the South Flint Church of the Nazarene, was born forty-one years ago in a minister's home. The only luxury that humble parsonage knew was the times when gathered around the old fashioned pump organ, and as mother played, the family sang hymns together. It was in those times that there was instilled in Ray that love for the hymns and gospel songs that bless the soul. The songs on this album are typical of those which Ray sings almost exclusively and it is in singing these that he is at his best. Ray not only has the gift of a rich bass voice but he has that rarer gift of projecting a part of himself into the songs he sings - that indefinable something that tells you that the song comes from the soul. It is this quality that has blessed his ministry in song and has made him so much in demand as a gospel singer. Ray Dafoe is a singer to whom, though he sings much, the singing of a song is never commonplace = each song is a new experience. As you listen to these songs it is not difficult to understand why he has chosen as the title song for this album, 'The Wonder of it All.'" - Liner notes from 'The Wonder of it All.'
