b : February 25, 1915 in Boston (USA) d: late 1950 in New York (USA) Swing jazz violon and alto saxophone player. Brother of drummer Bay Perry and saxophonist Joe Perry. Ray Perry first began studying violin in a classical music context, then at the age of twenty took up the saxophone. He was very much influenced by Stuff Smith and was the one of the first musicians to use amplified violin in the 40s. He has played with Chick Carter, Blanche Calloway and Lionel Hampton from 1940 to 1943.
