Rebecca Fischer is an American violinist, a member of Chiara String Quartet, and a research associate professor and Hixson-Lied artist-in-residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She graduated cum laude and received B.A. degree in music and comparative religion from Columbia University, as well as a M.M. degree from the Juilliard School. Rebecca's principal violin teachers include Joel Smirnoff, Masao Kawasaki, Kathleen Winkler; she also worked extensively with members of the Juilliard String Quartet, Takács Quartet, The Concord String Quartet and The Cleveland Quartet. Fischer is one-half of The Afield, an interdisciplinary collaboration with her husband, artist and writer Anthony Hawley.
