Renato E Seus Blue Caps

Band,
Rock and Latin

The "embryo" of all and His Blue Caps Renato are the three brothers of the family Barros, Renato, Paulo Cezar and Edson (Ed Wilson). In the late '50s, influenced by the musical tastes of the family, and the Rock'n Roll Elvis, Little Richard and Bill Haley, the boys began to imagine that they could participate in radio programs, mimicking the song hits, something that was quite common at that time. After a disastrous show in radio Mayrink Veiga, the program "Today is a day of Rock" by Jair de Taumartugo, began to devote himself to live music. They spent hours locked, perfecting the technique on their instruments. Paulo Cezar, for example, began playing the piano with two fingers, and later realized that her business was the bass. Until then there had been formed a whole, and had adopted the name "Rock Bacaninhas of Mercy," an allusion to the neighborhood in which they were created, in Rio de Janeiro. They soon joined the Barros brothers friends Euclid (guitarist) Gelson (drums) and saxophonist Roberto Simonal (brother of singer Simonal). Already the name of Renato and His Blue Caps, inspired by Gene Vincent, the group performed in the same program, playing and singing "Be-bop-a-lula" and won first place this week and thereafter, the prize Best month. Also in 1960, recorded the first 78 rpm disc, the label Cyclone, which accompanied the vocal group "The Teenagers". The following year, they recorded with Tony Billy, the same label. During this period, Gelson leaves together and Claudio goes for the drummer of the group. After participation in a program Chacrinha on TV Tupi, was hired by the Copacabana, where they released two 78s and two LPs in 1962 (Twist) and 1963, and rookie Toni was the drummer in this second LP. At 62, Ed Wilson left for a solo career, and Erasmo Carlos, then secretary of Carlos Imperial, assumes the crooner of the set. It was in 1963 that Renato and His Blue Caps took the first link with CBS. The group followed Roberto Carlos in the recordings of Splish Splash, and I stood against the tide. In 64, at the insistence of Roberto Carlos and Rossini Pinto, the group hired by CBS is launching a compact double. The band at this point, had Renato (lead guitar), Paulo Cesar (bass), Claudio (who had returned to all the recordings of this compact), Cid (sax) and Charlie's cousin Renato (rhythm guitar). After this compact, Toni returns once again to the position of drummer, and the set is, then, with the training that would make great success in subsequent years. At this point, and His Blue Caps Renato was already known in Rio de Janeiro, due to frequent appearances on TV and radio presentations. In early 1965, the record company CBS decides finally releasing another LP set. During the recording, in January of that year, Renato Barros made without many pretensions, the Portuguese version for the song "I Should known better", the Beatles, which was called "Beautiful Girl". Presented in the program Carlos Imperial, Rio on TV, the music made such good effect, which was included on the LP, to be called "Viva Youth". Soon the music enters the charts, and designs and His Blue Caps Renato across the country. The year 1965 was a milestone for the band's career. The success - unexpected - is steadily increasing, and near the end of the year, with the "Young Guard" on Record, and His Blue Caps Renato definitely conquer its space in the young music scene. The LP "This is Renato and His Blue Caps" achieves excellent selling and give greater impetus to the popularity of the group. The band specializes in versions of Beatles songs and other international artists, but also develops his own style of interpretation and composition. Many versions of Renato were more successful here in Brazil than the original English. Also arise tours abroad, and the band reaches the height of its popularity at the end of 66, with the release of the LP "A rocking with Renato and His Blue Caps," the disc's most successful and best-selling career in the set. The group would also be responsible for monitoring big names of the Young Guard, lending his sound to several releases phonograph. The excellent LP "Roberto Carlos Pace of Adventure" is just one example. Between 1965 and 1969, were released six LPs, all achieving high performance on the radio and selling. At 68, keyboardist Mauro Motta joins the band. The following year, the group goes through some changes. Paulo Cezar writes a single compact, trying to establish a solo career. In its place is Pedro. Charles also leaves the set, and Mauro Motta gives rise to Scarambone. 71, Paul Cezar returns to the assembly, but again leaves the group 73. Meanwhile, the year 1972 was marked by the departure of Toni and was replaced by drummer Gelson, which follows in conjunction to the present day. Two years later, the band now has also Ivanílton's vocals, which later became known nationally as Michael Sullivan. You can see the remarkable passage from Michael Sullivan by the group, listening to LPs of 1974 and 1976 (10 years Renato ...) The group goes through more changes in its formation in 1977. Leaving the assembly and Sullivan Michael Scarambone. The following year, it's time Pedrinho bassist left the band, for the return of vocalist and bassist Paulo Cezar also Barros, a year earlier launched by Emi-Odeon a good album with versions of the Beatles. The year was 1978, and beyond into the new keyboardist, Marquinho, the group launched a compact single with the songs "My Life" and "Nega, Neguinha." The latter would be a harbinger of things to come. A big wave was the disco, and the group's annual LP, 79, was strongly influenced by the pace of clubs. The first years of the 80s brought as a more compact single release by CBS, and the following year, the band's new LP, which had, among the news, a banner with the participation of Calexico. The song "Mr. Tambourine Man" version of the classic 60's music was the work, and even had the right to appear in Fantastic clip, Rede Globo. After 28 years on the same label, the band moves in 1982 for RCA, initially releasing a single compact, and the following year, the excellent LP "Forever." However, after this album, the set was four years (1983-1987) without burning, until the return to the phonographic releases took place in Continental, with the LP "Baton Rouge", a successful sales and implementation, which brought group back to the media. In 89, however, Paulo Cezar again leave the group, which would Luiz Claudio in his place, and hire keyboardist Darci. Luiz Claudio would be in the group until 1994, when it would be replaced by Amadeu. Around the disk occurred in 95, when the band participated in the collection 30 years of the Young Guard, produced by Márcio Antonucci, the VIP. In 96, it was the turn of the disc and His Blue Caps Renato - 1996, released by Columbia Globe. In 2000, the Blue Caps participate in three promotional CDs in honor of Roberto Carlos, and at the end of 2001, expected Live album is released by Warner, along with 5 previously unreleased tracks. It is noteworthy that Renato and His Blue Caps never stopped touring the country and perform shows and presentations. Currently, with 42 years of uninterrupted career, the set is about to enter the Guinness Book as the oldest planet in the activity. And a proof of the importance of Renato and His Blue Caps in this "Digital Age" is the constant release of their albums and compilations on CD, showing that the music of Renato and His Blue Caps survived the time, across generations, and remains alive , lively and spontaneous.
