Spoken Word
A.k.a. George Warren DeLatte
George DeLatte attended a revival meeting in Louisiana of a dynamic, great "old-time" evangelist, Rev. Gayle Jackson, when he was 23 years of age. His life changed from that time! He became a born again Christian that night and soon received the call to the ministry! His heart became hungry for the Word of God. He began studying by reading children Bible story books. They were full of the Old Testament stories of the great prophets and the law, and of people of Bible times and of our forgiving God and of the judgment of God. He learned of the grace of God as he studied the New Testament stories and the life of Jesus, about Peter and the disciples, and the Apostle Paul. As he continued reading and studying many Bible verses stayed in his memory... Soon he answered the call God had upon him and he became an ordained minister. When he preached the words would flow from him... The Bible became alive to the people who attended the revival meetings, as he preached and used the examples of Biblical heroes such as Daniel, who remained true to God even when thrown in the lions den and one could visualize Shadrack, Meshek and Abednego, as they were in the fiery furnace...When he was preaching and spoke of "the man in the long white robe" it made chills come over one... Rev. DeLatte was a great soul winner for Christ as he preached across America and journeyed to many foreign countries, including Haiti and India, always preaching the message of salvation. He believed in forgiveness and redemption, and he believed in heaven and hell ...When he gave an alter call one could have heard a pin drop it was so silent in the congregation as he prayed and ministered to them... The Holy Spirit touched people's hearts with conviction, and thousands of people came forward through the years to pray, to renew their commitments, to ask the Lord for forgiveness of their sins, and to accept Jesus in their hearts. Rev. DeLatte loved to pray for people! There would be long lines of people and families patiently waiting to share their prayer requests with Rev. DeLatte. He would stand for hours until he had personally prayed for each person who wanted prayer, needed encouragement, or to be ministered to. He was anointed and he believed in the full gospel, in the gifts of the spirit, and when he ministered in a revival service to people often it was through the word of knowledge, or word of wisdom or word of faith.
