A.k.a. Ricardo Villalobos & Martin Schopf
Two outcasts from South America in permanent exile in Berlin. Names that are little known but a combined discography that would make most producers pale in comparison. Ricardo Villalobos, DJ since 1988 and noteworthy producer, meets Martin Schopf, known more internationally for his recordings on the Rather Interesting label under the name Dandy Jack. Since they excel one like the other in a sort of minimal and experimental house tinged with exoticism, they decide to merge to create Ric Y Martin. Their pseudonym launches them straightaway into the world of Latin sound, where fun and sun are always present. Their most recent recordings on the Perlon label are, in this respect, compelling: the musicians’ own pleasure is infectious. There is absolutely no doubt that they’ll find a way of passing it on to you by the end of the night
